The Annual Scholarship Fundraiser has been scheduled for Sunday, April 14, 2024 at the Town and Country Club. We are in need of two volunteers to be Co-chairpersons of this event. Don’t let the designation intimidate you!! This event pretty much runs itself. The of the Co-chairs are to set the menu and to make sure that Micrographics is on board with any printing needs.

Speaking of volunteering, many hands make little work. It would be helpful to have some volunteers to sell raffle tickets at the Fundraiser as well. This would simply mean about one hour to sell tickets at your table. Just let any Board member know if you are willing to help out. It will save Patty countless hours making phone calls!!

At our May Scholarship and Recognition Dinner, Mary Beth Gammack was recognized for reaching the milestone of 50 years of membership in College Club. Congratulations, Mary Beth.

We were privileged to meet our two scholarship award winners also. This year the Scholarship Committee chose Camryn Schiavitti who will be attending Nazareth College to pursue a degree in physical therapy. Camryn attended with her mother and gave a wonderful thank you to the group. She shared her plans to study at Nazareth and be a part of their women’s soccer team. Her determination and hard work led to success and we wish her well at Nazareth.

The second award winner was Camryn Becken. Camryn will be attending NCCC and then a four- year school. Camryn thanked the group via Zoom and impressed us with her poise as she shared her academic plans and the work ethic that brought her to graduating from high school in three years. We also wish Camryn well at NCCC and look forward to hearing from both of them. Thank you to Margo Covell who chaired the Scholarship Committee this year and is stepping down. Thank you also to Kim Meal who has chaired in the past and served many years on Scholarship Committee. Kim is also stepping down. The two new members of Scholarship Committee are Ann O’Byrne and Nancy Fisher. Volunteers are needed! Please let me know if you would be interested in working on Programs as Vice-President. Co-chairing with a friend has been successful. We have lots of program ideas already so please let me know if you would like to be more involved.

We also need co-chairmen for next year’s fundraiser. Many aspects are already in place. Please call me for details.

In April, we lost long-time member Cathie Tobin. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. She was on the Board with Patty Russell when she wrote the Megaphone with Marcia Jacobi. A memorial book has been arranged at Lockport Public Library from the members of Lockport College Women’s Club. Please note in your directory that Anna Beth Kinyon’s phone number is now 716- 725-2059.

The next Board of Directors meeting is scheduled for June 8, 2023 at the home of Anna Beth Kinyon. The meeting begins at 7:00 PM. Please let Anna Beth know if you are unable to attend.

Thank you to Patty Russell as always who has been our tireless leader for yet another successful year. Looking forward to seeing everyone at the June meeting.
