Christmas is the season for giving! As was suggested at the November meeting, we will be collecting items for Lockport C.A.R.E.S. and the Sisters of St. Mary of Namur. Lockport

C.A.R.E.S. is in need of socks, large sized fleece tops or pants. The sister are in need of clean, used warm clothing for their refugee shelter - this includes warm jackets, sweaters and boots. If you would like to bring these items to the December meeting, Patty Russell and Monica Pullano have volunteered to deliver any items donated.

Gail Marshall is still looking for volunteers to help ring bells for the Salvation Army on December 5 for the location at the Lockport Tops from 6-8 PM. If interested, please call her at 434-4306. This is the last spot to be filled and she thanks everyone in advance who has volunteered.

We are still in need a person to serve as Secretary this year. It is not an arduous job! And can be a way for you to meet members! This position can be shared by two people, too. So if you are interested, please let Patty Russell or any other Board Member know of your interest. We will be looking for a volunteer to take minutes at each meeting until we find a Secretary.

Dues for the 2018-19 season are now due in the amount of $40.00. They can be paid at the December Meeting or mailed to Treasurer, Anna Beth Kinyon, Lockport College Womens’ Club, 117 Windermere Road, Lockport, New York 14094. Just a reminder that dues will increase to $50.00 in January.

The Spring Scholarship Fundraiser has been tentatively scheduled for April 7, 2019. Watch for more information. Ida Quade and Madeline Angelo are our co-chairs once again! Danielle Priest and Shirley Frombgen are our Ticket Co-chairmen and Rosemary Dever and Patricia Kennedy will once again Co-Chair the Basket Committee. Thanks to all for their commitment to both our Club and Scholarship Program!

If anyone knows of a person who could use a card, please let Kathy Newman know as she is our Sunshine Committee person.

Hasn’t it been such a great pleasure to listen to the correspondence that we receive from our scholarship recipients! It is such a reward to know that our efforts have helped young women reach for their dreams. Lockport College Women’s Club has been in the business of supporting young women achieve their academic dreams for nearly 100 years. Our 100t^ Year Anniversary will happen in 2020! Let’s start thinking about ways to celebrate this accomplishment. If you have any historical memorabilia or would like to jot down remembrances, please do so as we would like to include these in the celebration. Let’s encourage friends and family to join the Club to keep the tradition viable.

The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on January 101, 2018 at the home of Mary Beth Caswell, 5886 Marion Drive, Lockport at 7:00 PM. Please contact Marion if you are unable to attend.

June 2018

Please join us on June 7, 2018, at 7:00 at the Lockport Town and Country Club to hear Lisa Jermyn speak about her family's personal story of celiac disease and how that sparked the creation and growth of the gluten-free bakery, Kith and Kin Bakery, located here on Dysinger Road, Lockport. We will be having an Ice cream Sundae bar, coffee and tea. The cost is 513.00.

What a wonderful May Banquet!! ! It was a delight to meet our two scholarship winners, Riley Adams and Erin Haley. Good Job to Margo Covell and the Scholarship Committee for their dedication and hard work. And what a wonderful recognition of two members — Our 25 year member, Paula Falsioni, and our 50 year member, Barbara Smith. What dedication. We will look forward to hearing from our Scholarship members over the next four year which will conclude in 2022 - The 100th year of Lockport College Women’s Club.

Our Spring Scholarship Fundraiser was a success despite horrible weather conditions. It looks like we raised $3,594.89 for our Scholarship Fund. Many, many thanks to our Co-chairs - Ida Quade and Madeline Angelo. Both have said that they will continue in that position for next year!!! And many thanks to the Basket Committee of Rosemary Dever, Pat Kennedy, Jancie Litz, Peg D'Amato, Dolores Tracy, Gail Sullivan and honorary members, Ed Tracy and Richard Dever. Many, many thanks to our Ticket Committee of Shirley Frombgen and Danielle Priest. And a heartfelt thanks to Paula Falsioni for underwriting the cost of the tickets.

New Directories will be printed next year. If you have any changes in address, telephone or email, please let someone on the Board know the change.

The Program Committee is always looking for suggestions for programs. Please give your suggestions to either Monica Pullano or Marion Hannigan.

Once again, we need to look ahead to next year. We are always looking for new people who are willing to serve either as an officer or on the Board of Directors. Please consider volunteering! It’s a great way to meet people and help out. It’s a fact of life now that fewer people will commit to joining a club such as ours. Many no longer see the need. Many claim that they do not have the time. The expectation of members is really not a significant amount of time - attendance at two meetings, payment of dues and support of the annual fundraiser. It's time we sang our praises and looked for new members to help with the historic vision of the women who created the club to begin with. Young women still need encouragement and support to reach for the stars. shared by two people, too. So if you are interested, please let Patty Russell or any other Board Member know of your interest.

The final Board of Directors meeting will be held on June 14, 2018 at the home of Patty Russell, 102 Continental Drive, Lockport at 7:00 PM. Please contact Patty if you are unable to attend.
