LOCKPORT COLLEGE WOMEN’S CLUB
THE MEGAPHONE - MAY 2012

PLEASE plan to attend the May Scholarship Banquet MAY 3! Meet the college-bound girl who will receive our $1,000 per year scholarship.
Place: The Lockport Town & Country Club
6:30 pm: Cocktails and Cheese Tray.
Dinner at 7 pm.
Entrees: 7 oz. NY Strip Steak; Chicken Laura as a pinwheel of chicken with prosciutto and cheese, or the Vegetarian Dish with pasta, vegetables, olive oil and garlic) Pie, salad, twice-baked potato , rolls and beverage- plus tip INCLUDED IN $25 cost of dinner!
Reservations, with your dinner choice, must be with the
Telephone Committee by 9 pm on Sunday, April 29.

- We are still collecting ladies’ personal items for the YWCA Safe House, -brushes, combs, deodorant, toothbrushes, shampoo,etc.
- The next Board meeting will be Thursday, May 10
at Ann Van Dusen’s.

or committee member. We always can use new, fresh perspectives!
- The fund raiser was a success, thanks to Elaine Bergman for chairing the event. We made a little over $4000 again this year. Thanks for your support.

Don’t miss our next fact-filled meeting at 7 PM THURSDAY MARCH 1 at the Lockport Town & Country Club for dessert buffet or fruit plate, featuring Jim McGrath’s program, “GETTYSBURG”.
A historian and lecturer, he is a frequent visitor to the Civil War battlefields at Gettysburg and attends seminars related to wartime history.
Reservation and your dessert choice with your telephone contact by 9PM SUNDAY, FEB. 26. If you call Mary Beth Wilson, try someone else. She’s out of town ‘til March 17.

It’s our new and different Spring Scholarship Fund-Raiser !

Luncheon and a fun music show, ”Nunsense Boulevard” , at the Lockport Town & Country Club, with that perennial favorite – a Basket Raffle.
Tickets and more information will be mailed to you by the end of February.
At our March 1 meeting, the hostesses, Pat Kennedy and Rosemary Dever, (who also are our creative “basket ladies”) will tell us more about donating to the sale. We can create our own basket for the raffle, OR we can drop off new items, used baskets, ribbons, etc. at Rosemary’s house (6865 East High St.) and the committee will design exciting for-raffle baskets. *Call Rosemary at 434-9972 before leaving items.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

- There will be no College Club meeting in April.
- Your great response to the needs of sexual assault victims, has inspired the Board to ask for donations of toiletries for residents of
the YWCA’s Safe House at the March 1 meeting- toothbrushes, combs, deodorants, cologne, wipes – daily needs of ladies, etc.
- Let President Patty Russell know if you’d like to be a contact person for members who need transportation to meetings, or if you’d like to serve as an officer or committee member.
- Please consider making an extra contribution to the Scholarship Committee.
