Please join us on March 2 at 7:00 at the Lockport Town and Country Club to hear Brad Hahn who will be speaking about Explore Buffalo, the largest non-profit tour organization in the Buffalo area. Explore Buffalo provides architectural and historical tours in unique ways. It should be an interesting program as we will learn what is available and what volunteer opportunities there may be. Brad is the Executive Director and will be sharing his knowledge of our cultural tourism industry. Reservations must be made by Sunday February 26 by 7:00PM. Please note that Mary Beth Wilson is out of town and not available for reservations. Please feel free to call Gail Marshall. Hostesses will be Isabelle Murphy and Margo Covell. This is a dessert meeting and the cost is $12.00. Please make sure to mention whether you will be having dessert or fruit. The cost covers the dessert of $10.00 and the gratuity of $2.00. We have been collecting items for donation to Lockport C.A.R.E.S. this year. Please bring in personal care items at the next meeting – body wash, toothpaste, feminine hygiene, deodorant, and shampoo are always needed.
We are still in need a person to serve as Secretary this year. It is not an arduous job! And can be a way for you to meet members! This position can be shared by two people, too. So if you are interested, please let Patty Russell or any other Board Member know of your interest. Until the position is filled, we will be asking for a volunteer to take minutes at each meeting. Dues for the 2016-17 season are now due in the amount of $50.00. They can be paid at the October Meeting or mailed to Treasurer, Anna Beth Kinyon, Lockport College Womens’ Club, 117 Windermere Road, Lockport, New York 14094.
Our fundraiser is coming up fast – mark your calendars for April 23, 2017 when will have a wonderful luncheon and afternoon at the Lockport Town and Country Club. The Lockport High School Jazz Ensemble will be providing entertainment and, of course, the wonderful basket auction. Rosemary Dever and Pat Kennedy are still accepting donations for baskets – gift cards, consumables and wine are always a good choice. You can drop off any new items or completed baskets at their homes. They will gladly accept help in assembling baskets. The next Board of Directors meeting will be held on March 9 at the home of Dee Morotchie, 95 Vermont Street, Lockport at 7:00.
Please join us on November 3, at 7:00 at the Lockport Town and Country Club to hear Ellen Schratz, President of the Board of Directors of the Historic Palace Theater and Chris Parada, Director of Theater Activities. They will share a brief history of the theater and will tell us of the present activities and future plans for our lovely Palace Theater. Both will also discuss the challenges of the future. Reservations must be made by Sunday October 30 by 7:00 PM.
