February 2015

Come meet Susan Geissler, sculptor, at our meeting on February 5, 2015 at 7:00 at the Lockport Town and Country Club. She is pictured above with “Freedom Crossing” which is located in Lewiston, NY. Other of her works are also on display locally as well as nationally and internationally. She is holder of over six dozen awards and prizes. Susan’s presentation promises to be lively with a touch of humor and includes a power point view of the process involved in turning a clay model into a finished bronze work. Everyone is encouraged to enjoy the workmanship in the various models she will bring to put on the display tables. She will welcome your questions and comments at the end of her presentation. For more information about Susan go to her website: www.susangeissler.com. Coffee, tea and a choice of a dessert or fruit plate will be offered for a cost of $ 12.00.  Please make your reservations with the telephone committee by Sunday Feb. 1 at 8:00PM.  The hostesses will be Michelle Gilbert and Kim Meal.

We will also be given the financial standing of the scholarship fund and will be approving the recommendations from the scholarship committee for this year’s awards.

Mary Anne Buddenhagen, a fifty year plus member, recently passed. She was active in LCWC right up to the end. We will miss her. Her family chose donations to LCWC’s scholarship fund in lieu of flowers. At this time we will accept any donations if you choose. Please send them to Daniel Priest, Scholarship Committee treasurer.

The amendment to our constitution was passed changing membership qualification to applicants who have a two year or a four degree from an accredited college. If you know someone who is interested in joining us, bring them to a meeting!

The 2015 Fundraiser event will be held on Sunday, April 12 at the Lockport Town and Country Club from 12:00-3:00PM. Entertainment will be “The Buffalo Gals”. Please add this date to your calendars.

The basket committee is looking for things such as gift certificates or new items (not used) that would help fill baskets. They are looking for quality, not just quantity this year. Baskets already completed or empty are also welcome. You can bring these to the meeting. A table is being provided. The basket raffle is a significant part of our scholarship fundraiser. Please consider how you can help out our basket committee this year.
