                                                  MARCH 2013
The March 7 dessert meeting and program at 7 p.m. at the Lockport Town & Country Club will feature insights about China presented by the vivacious Jane Haenle, a native Lockportian and former dean and vice-president of Niagara County Community College. A frequent traveler to China since 1995 to visit her son Paul, she will give us her impressions of this vast emerging world power.

Reservations by 8 p.m. Sunday, March 3 with your telephone gal, EXCEPT for those who call Mary Beth Wilson who will be unavailable in March.  Call any other phone lady. Hostesses will be Janice Litz and Patricia Kennedy.

                                                ANNOUNCEMENTS
- The members unanimously approved the recommendation of the Scholarship Committee to award one scholarship ($1,000 for each of 4 years) in 2013, as presented by Gail Marshall, committee chairwoman.
     - Tickets for the fund-raiser, scheduled April 14, will be distributed at the March meeting, and then mailed to absent members. Keep thinking BASKETS and their filler-uppers, and bring things in March!
- Directories will be available at the March meeting. Dee Morotchie asks you to make the following changes:  Add- Lois Donovan; 708 West Ave, Lyndonville,NY;  (585) 415-6414; Robert Wesleyan grad.  Delete Joanne Ferris, now a permanent Florida resident.
                                           FUTURE ACTION
-         Discuss continuing or discontinuing our practice of donating a book (cost $25) to the Lockport Public Library in memory of a deceased member. If that is discontinued, one idea would be to make a one-time donation to Niagara Hospice to purchase a brick (cost range $150-$250). Receipts available soon for donations to the scholarship fund as a memorial.
-         Appointment of a Publicity Chairman, who would write short articles
and take pictures to submit to the newspapers.
  -     The next Board of Directors meeting is changed to Thursday, March 21          at 7 p.m. – Patty Russell’s home.
