 March 2023 

Please join us on April 16, 2023 for our Annual Scholarship Fundraiser at the Lockport Town and Country Club. Doors will open at noon, with the luncheon to follow at 1:00 PM. Letters with ticket information have been mailed. Please be sure to return your ticket money and luncheon suggestion by April 6, 2023!! We need to be able to give the meal selections to the Country Club in plenty of time. Completed baskets can be dropped off at the Lockport Town and Country Club April 12 through April 15 between the hours of 11:00 AM and 4:00 PM. or at the home of Madeline Angelo, 80 Lindhurst Drive, Lockport who has graciously said that baskets can be dropped off to her the week before. Gift cards are a great option as well; please have them in a small frame or basket for display purposes. Due to conflict, Julie Muscato will not be participating this year..


Please give a round of applause and great thanks to all those who have helped with this year’s fundraiser – Co-chairs, Ida Quade and Madeline Angelo, Ticket Co-chairs, Daniele Priest and Shirley Frombgen; Table decorations, Patty Russell, Basket Raffle Set-up, Peg D’Amato, Patty Russell and Anna Beth Kinyon. Please give a special round of thanks to Paula Falsioni who has, once again, donated the tickets.  


Let us also recognize the hard work of our Scholarship Committee – Chairman, Margo Covell, Treasurer, Daniele Priest, Committee members Val Hamluk, Megan Menges and Kim Meahl.  Please mark your calendars for the May Banquet which is scheduled for May 4, 2023 at 6:00 

PM, 80 Main, Lockport, New York. Hostesses will be Mary Beth Caswell and Ann O’Byrne.  The menu will have two dinner choices: Chicken Cordon Bleu with poulet sauce or Stuffed Shrimp with lump blue crab meat. The dinners will include soft drinks, coffee, tea and dessert. The cost of the Chicken is $30.00 and the cost of the Shrimp is $35.00. Dinners include coffee, tea, soft drinks and dessert. Reservations must be called in for this event by Sunday, April 30, 2023. We will be meeting this year’s Scholarship winners and their mothers. We will also be honoring Mary Beth Gammack, as our newest 50 year member.  There is an update to the Directory: Mary Lou Chamberlain is deceased. Her family requested that contributions be made to the Club in lieu of flowers. To date, the Club has received $2,620.00 in donations in her memory. We have shared our deep appreciation to her family for thinking of College Club. This is truly a wonderful legacy in memory of our long-time member.  


The next Board Meeting is scheduled for May 11, 2023 at 7:00 PM at the home of Ann O’Byrne, 112A Foxberry Drive, Getzville, New York. Please contact her if you will not be attending.


 February 2023

Please join us on March 2, 2023, at 6:00 PM at 80 Main Street. Our speaker is Pam Gorman,the owner of So Good Granola. She will be presenting her talk entitled “The Mother of Reinvention”. This inspirational talk has been chosen by the Toastmasters to compete in their divisional competition. Ms. Gorman will speak to us about her career change after leaving a toxic work environment despite the pandemic, spinal surgery and family loss. She struck out on her own, establishing her granola business. She will be bringing samples and will take questions from members. The meeting will consist of a light buffet supper of a choice of salads (Cran-apple salad or Italian pasta salad) and sandwiches (chicken Caesar wrap or turkey, bacon and avocado on a ciabatta roll), soft drinks, coffee, tea and a plated dessert. The cost is $30.00 which includes the gratuity and use of the room. Hostesses are Kim Meahl and Michelle Gilbert. Reservations must be made by Sunday, February 26 at 7:00 PM by calling the telephone committee. Please note that Nancy Coons is no longer on the telephonecommittee and has been replaced by Michelle Gilbert (433-6739). Please remember that Marybeth Wilson is not available to take calls for the months of February and March.

Please consider bringing a friend to this exciting first program. We need everyone to beinvolved to keep the Lockport College Women’s Club the vibrant community organization that ithas been for 100 years!!!

Treasurer, Anna Beth Kinyon will be accepting payment of Dues at the meeting. Dues are now$50.00 since it is after December 31, 2022. They can also be mailed to: Anna Beth Kinyon, 117 Windermere Road, Lockport, New York 14092. Remember, Dues will increase to $50.00 after December.

The Spring Fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday, April 16, 2023. Please mark your scheduledand make your plans for finished baskets to donate for the raffle. The doors will be open for this event at noon, with the luncheon to follow at 1:00 PM. Please keep an eye out for the upcoming letter with tickets and information concerning the drop-off for completed baskets. Julie Muscato will be highlighting clothing and accessories available at her store as well. We are fortunate to have her come!!

The Scholarship Committee recommendation for the year 2023 was approved at the February meeting and we will be supporting awards up to $8,000.00 as applications are received and reviewed by the Scholarship Committee.

Please join us on February 2, 2023, at 6:00 PM at 80 Main Street. Our program is a timely one in light of the fact that it has been one year since the start of the war in the Ukraine. Our speaker will be Dasha Valuskya who is the Ukrainian Sponsorship Coordinator with Jewish Family Resources. She emigrated to this country as a child from the Ukraine. She has previously worked as an English teacher with JFS for refugees and asylum seekers. In addition, Emily Werth, a volunteer with the Niagara County Satellite Office for JFS, will be present to provide information about refugee services and needs. Donations for newly arriving families are helpful and include such things as linens, bedding, kitchen supplies and appliances. Monetary donations are helpful as well and they will be accepting those as checks made out to Jewish Family Services with “Family Support Fund” written in the memo line.
