June 2018
Please join us on June 7, 2018, at 7:00 at the Lockport
Town and Country
Club to hear Lisa Jermyn
speak about her family's personal story of celiac disease and how that
sparked the creation and growth of the gluten-free bakery, Kith and Kin Bakery,
located here on Dysinger Road, Lockport. Reservations must be made by
Sunday, May 27, 2018 by 7:00 PM. Hostesses will be Mary Finn and Anna Beth
Kinyon. Last minute changes can be made by calling
Gail Marshall. We will be having an Ice cream Sundae bar, coffee
and tea. The cost is 513.00.
What a wonderful May Banquet!! ! It was a delight to meet our
two scholarship winners, Riley Adams and Erin Haley. Good Job to Margo Covell
and the Scholarship Committee for their dedication and hard work. And what a wonderful recognition of two members — Our 25 year member,
Paula Falsioni, and our 50 year
member, Barbara Smith. What dedication. We will look forward to hearing from
our Scholarship members over the next four year which will conclude in 2022 -
The 100th year of Lockport
College Women’s Club.
Our
Spring Scholarship Fundraiser was a success despite horrible weather
conditions. It looks like we raised $3,594.89 for our Scholarship Fund. Many, many thanks to our Co-chairs - Ida Quade and Madeline Angelo. Both have said that they will continue
in that position
for next year!!!
And many thanks
to the Basket Committee of Rosemary Dever, Pat
Kennedy, Jancie Litz, Peg D'Amato, Dolores Tracy, Gail Sullivan and honorary
members, Ed Tracy and Richard Dever. Many, many thanks to our Ticket Committee
of Shirley Frombgen and Danielle Priest. And a heartfelt thanks to Paula
Falsioni for underwriting the cost of the tickets.
New Directories will be printed
next year. If you have any changes
in address, telephone or email, please
let someone on the Board know the change.
The Program
Committee is always looking for suggestions for programs. Please
give your suggestions to either Monica Pullano or Marion Hannigan.
Once again,
we need to look ahead to next year. We are always looking for new people who
are willing to serve either as an officer or on the Board of Directors. Please
consider volunteering! It’s a great way to meet people and help out. It’s a fact of life now that fewer people
will commit to joining a club such as ours. Many no longer see the need. Many
claim that they do not have the time. The expectation of members is really not
a significant amount of time - attendance at two meetings, payment of dues and
support of the annual fundraiser. It's time we sang our praises and looked for new members
to help with the historic
vision of the women who created the club to begin with. Young women
still need encouragement and support to reach for the stars. shared by two
people, too. So if you are interested, please let Patty Russell or any other
Board Member know of your interest.
The final
Board of Directors meeting will be held on June 14, 2018 at the home of Patty
Russell, 102 Continental Drive, Lockport at 7:00 PM. Please contact Patty if
you are unable to attend.
